In Judaism, the Tree of Life is the symbol for Torah, the Biblical teachings. In this series, the Tree panel represents the women’s aspirations, while the companion panel shows their hard-working lives. Idealism versus drudgery. The trees are North American, the women work in the Mediterranean ocean, a wadi (Israeli canyon), and a Galilean orchard.
